Blender's Gold Cigar Butt

This is the last of my 4-pack of Blender's Gold. Although the cigars do in fact seem to be Maduro, they're in this crazy pale wrapper that makes the whole thing seem like a sausage.

Dejlah Bistro

Louisville's Middle-Eastern Dejlah Bistro remains boarded up after arsonists burned it down and spray-painted "get out of our country" on the premises.

LD

According to a reader on my Unusual Kentucky blog, these giant wall-covering letters are done with modified fire extinguishers, refilled with paint and re-pressurized with a tire air compressor at a gas station.

Who Da Thot It

Many years ago in Shelbyville there was a sign for "Who'da Thot It" Road, at the top of "Who'da Thot It" Hill leading down to the "Who'da Thot It" Bridge. Then it disappeared. A few years ago it came back, but unfortunately it's now rendered in Comic Sans, the most despised font in this spiral arm of the galaxy.

From the my wine and comics cellar of crummy old comics that are for reading, not for sticking in a bag with an acid-free backing card and shoving in a white oblong box.

Katydid and Fibers

This photo of a baby katydid (about the size of my pinky nail) came out focused badly, but I'm running it here anyway because I'm amazed at how a shirt that looks perfectly clean to the naked eye can look so filthy when put under near-microscopic scrunity. I'm also fascinated by how translucent how the fiber, or hairs, are. I have a cat and regularly dog-sit four dogs, plus I work in fiber art, so my clothes are always a forensic nightmare and there's no way to even begin to guess what kind of fibers these are. Hopefully they aren't Morgellons.
