Before Louisville merged with all of Jefferson County - which, by the way, I think is one of the worst things ever to happen to Kentucky - there were over a hundred cities and towns that have now been reduced to mere boroughs. Almost all of them, however, still keep their old signs intact, and many still nobly cling to their pre-annexation infrastructure as much as possible.
